Too Many Chiefs..Not Enough Indians

I have a good friend of mine who works in the auto industry and I ask him all the time about whats going on. He's not one of the line workers at the factory, he's a simple guy that works for a dealership, and works on cars.

Like the rest of the jobs in the states, your there one day, gone the next, and with the turmoil in the auto industry, gone the next is closer to reality then you think. One of his companies biggest problems he says is that they are trying to "manage their way" through this period of downturn. The manage that he talks about is hiring more managers to make things more efficient, which might work, if management would work together.

It's almost circus like, he says, when he talks about the daily events that occur. You get directives at meetings, then those directives change throughout the day depending on what manager you speak with. Their is no knowledge between the left and right hands, neither know what the other is doing.

I'm curious to hear if anyone here has any problems or situations like this where they work and would like to share them.
